In response to “Love Self-checkouts” which ran in the June 17 issue of North Country This Week; we also can pump our own gas, bag our own groceries and serve ourselves in a restaurant to name a few. Employers either have to cut down on hiring or pay the exorbitant expenses it costs to keep people working. Unemployment insurance, workman’s compensation and health insurance are a large addition to the expense of keeping an employee. It’s a bit of a no win…we lose our services and people are out of work.
