Selfish drivers

I recently became a parent. One of the most terrifying things about this experience, both during the pregnancy and after the baby arrived, is getting in the car. It has become increasingly apparent to me how selfish many people are when driving. Yes, selfish. I am constantly seeing people on their cell phones, despite this being illegal in New York for safety reasons. People pull out in front of me, slam on their brakes to make a last-minute turn, speed by cars that are trying to turn left on the right-hand shoulder, and pass three cars at once in a no-passing zone. Is whatever you're doing on your phone really that important? If so, maybe you should pull over and focus your attention on that. Are you really in that much of a hurry that it's worth risking at head-on collision at 60 mph? Please don't be a selfish driver. Think of those whom you may injure, or worse, because you're only thinking of yourself. Parents, encourage your young drivers to make smart choices. Adults, use your heads. Don't drink and drive. Go slow when the roads are bad this winter. It's really not hard to make the roads safer for everyone; you just have to care about someone other than yourself.
