I wonder if the people who voted against the merger understand the complexity of how schools are funded and activities mandated? Many of the activities that people see and love, such as, sporting events, concerts, student art work displays are now in danger of being eliminated. Funding schools cannot be compared to running a household anymore that the activities of a household can be compared to what goes on in schools. Imagine no kindergarten program! Think of the importance of preparing little children for learning to read, write and think. Children who do not have early success often are just not successful in school. Did people vote this way because they just don’t trust anyone? We have some very good administrators who proposed this merger...gave it time, effort and great thought. Not to mention the depth of knowledge they held that caused them to make this recommendation. I hope that once people see the results of the no vote we will once again have an opportunity to vote on a merger and save our local educational system.
