The college students are being stopped mostly at night and on Maple Street. I am sure they are guilty, however, there are lot of other traffic law violators. They speed up and down Market Street, across Sandstone Drive and up and down Maple Street. The stop signs seem to mean nothing to them. Our school zones don't seem to exist. They cut across parking lots to avoid traffic signals. The three-way stop at Cottage and Leroy Streets is often violated. The crosswalk is used by children on their way to and from school. If we can stop 25 seatbelt violators in two days, why can't we make Potsdam a safer place to drive. For every college student stopped, there at least one dozen or more other drivers violating traffic laws.
