In response to “There When Needed” which ran in the April 1 issue of North Country This Week, there are way too many tax dollars being spent on police in the many different agencies. How many is too many? We have more cops than criminals when you take in the many layers. How many can we afford when education, services and programs are being cut but more police instead of less. With education dollars decreasing, there will be more uneducated people without jobs and resorting to criminal activity. Put the dollars up front. There was just a bunch of money spent on updating security at the AAK school entrance when what they had was already over the top. We are throwing money at symptoms yet again instead of the cause, the rich that are willing to hire illegal immigrants for peanuts instead of investing in America and paying living wages to the middle class. We haven't been stricken with the greed disease, we just want a sliver of the pie!
