In response to the article “Remembering the 60s Riots,” which ran in the May 13-19 issue of North Country This Week, this was an interesting story, a bit biased, but interesting nonetheless. However, using two college oriented newspapers as a source of information, this is understandable. It is strange to read that police used violence and tear gas to disperse the crowds, yet, it was not violence for those subjects who were throwing bricks, rocks, bottles, trash cans, etc. at officers. In that time period, and here in the North Country, that type of social unrest was not going to be tolerated. Period. Apparently, that message was received as this type of nonsense did not happen again.
