In response to “Potsdam Traffic Congestion” which ran in the Sept. 16-22 issue of North Country This Week: the Maple Street past Clarkson to Sandstone Drive are both already unofficially 45 mph. Only once in a blue moon am I not the only one doing the speed limit on this stretch of road. I’ve actually been honked at before while doing 30 mph past Clarkson by an irate driver that wasn’t satisfied that I was respecting the posted speed limit. And even the village police don’t go 30 through there. So as long as they don’t suddenly start issuing tickets for speed infractions and judging by the police blotter, I’d say that you’re pretty darn safe, I bet you’re already doing 45 past the college just like seemingly everyone else.
