As a native of Canton all my life except for a brief tour out of the area, I submit that Jessica Cooke was singled out by Border Patrol because she looks Native American. Anyone who lives in this area would assume this instantly, whether she is Native American or not. The last time I was swept up in the famous fifteen-car roadblock on 812, I was questioned by a Vietnamese, who I could recognize from my experience in his families native land. I of course had no problem getting through with my Veterans of Foreign Wars license plate and enhanced driver's license. You would think an organization as diverse in language and cultural background would be a little less assumptive.
