Protest disrupts traffic

Driving through Canton Dec. 12, I was surprised at the inaction of authority in letting students and according to reports, some faculty, protest the way they did by disrupting and blocking traffic. I am sympathetic to the concerns of minorities but...to use those unfortunate situations to rally your cause and break the law doing so, garners no sympathy from me. When I drove through Canton, I was able to ease through in my lane. Had there been anyone kneeling in the street in my lane, I'm pretty sure they would have been run over for I would not have seen them. My only conclusion is that it's okay to break the law in Canton as even on the TV news that evening, it showed the Canton village patrolmen casually observing the students kneeling in the street. And it sounds like St. Lawrence University condones this activity. Perhaps when I, or a group has a beef, we should go to the quad or somewhere else on campus and disrupt their routine.
