If the purpose of plastic gloves is to protect us from germs, why do food handlers think it is ok to keep the gloves on while preparing the food, then touch the handles of the meat slicing machine, the refrigerator/freezer, the cash register, the toaster oven/microwave, lean on the meat case…and on and on. The deal is to touch nothing except the food, or repeatedly change the gloves! Whether gloves are on or off, when the customer says there are too many sandwich makings, don’t toss them back into the dispensing container. Upset stomach? Where did your last meal come from? I’m sure we’d be surprised at how many cross contaminations occur due to poor food handling.
