In response to “Sanctions Miss the Target,” the U.S. and United Nations are not responsible for the quality of life of Iranians; the Iranian government is, just like our government is responsible for our lives, to a degree. Sanctions have brought Iran to the point where they are willing to possibly comply with the standards applied to other countries, although that still remains to be seen. The Iranian people don’t have to live the way they do, but they should be putting pressure on their government leaders to change their heavy handed methods of governing. It’s not only UN sanctions that hurt the Iranian people. They have other laws, like executing people who criticize the government or identify as homosexual, which have nothing to do with sanctions but which I think everyone in the West would deplore.
