Potsdam’s heritage of many classic buildings and homes has been lost to week zoning policies for too many years. It is too late to recover. A recent small shoebox apartment complex and an older large apartment are but two examples, plus a home and garage built close to the sidewalk on Pierrepont Avenue are three examples adversely affecting their neighborhoods. This could not take place in Hanover, N.H., or Canton. The revengeful display of toilets on Market Street and the village entrance is a bad taste winner. Zoning personnel should study the Civic Center and the brick Victorian and revival classics for guidance. Too late!
