Potsdam village board should make concessions
The Potsdam mayor and village board must make some concessions for taxpayers if they hire two police officers. Every other public entity in the country is cutting back or laying off and we need to do the same. If they must hire, any new employees should have a less expensive benefit package. Village officials should also consider asking our current officers if they are willing to either do more with less or contribute to the health care costs in lieu of hiring two additional people. Village residents need to speak out on this issue or face ever increasing property taxes or fewer services.
