Potsdam is unique and accepting

In response to the person who wrote “Tantrum” (June 2-8) and anyone else complaining about the house on Market Street; I and many people I know choose to live in Potsdam because it is a unique and accepting community. Of course there are people everywhere that think that they should never have to gaze their eyes upon anything they find even remotely distasteful. Whether it is art for art’s sake or a person’s personal statement doesn’t really matter. What you can tell your kids when they ask about why the house looks different is that we are fortunate enough to live in a free country where people have freedom of speech and expression, freedom to non-violent protest, and where people are free to put whatever they want on their lawns. I find it amazing in this time of concern with preserving our freedoms that there are so many people lining up to give them away.
