I think Mayor Yurgartis should be a little more forthcoming with the numbers he provides on the lifetime cost of an officer. He is obviously utilizing projected inflation numbers to inflate the numbers, but not mentioning that because of inflation, more tax revenue will be collected. The actual lifetime cost of an officer is probably closer to $3.5 million in current dollars, which is a lot less than the $6 plus million number the mayor continues to quote.
