Recently, I was told that the Christmas dinner that is put on by some fine folks here in Colton for the benefit of the senior citizens -- as well as others -- had to be moved to the new fire station because of the lack of room at the Community Center in South Colton. The reason given was that the Community Center is full of items moved from the now closed tourism "garage" which was formerly located across from the Post Office in South Colton. Although it was a good idea to move it to the new fire station, I would respectfully suggest to our elected town leaders the following: that the parking lot on SH 56, just south of the bridge in Colton (near McRobbie's Bay) could be used for location of a new Town of Colton tourism building. I'm thinking something along the lines of a nice, small Adirondack type log cabin. This new building would be centrally located, with lots of parking, "boat washers," motorists, bicyclists, campers, etc. could avail themselves to various tourism and recreation information available. Seems to me that with the investment we already have in this piece of land, it would be a shame not to use it to it's full potential.
