In answer to “Nothing Left To Squeeze” which ran in the May 7-13 edition, I say horse hockey. Do away with sports and all the associated travel and expense with it. Most schools also have lighted sports fields that need to be maintained. Money can be saved with the cost of gas to mow, materials to line the fields, and labor cost that can be cut. With no sports to cut into the student’s time, maybe their test scores will improve. I have also heard that in North Carolina the older students are used to drive the school buses to cut cost there. There are places to cut the budgets.
