In response to "Renting With Pets" which ran in the Sept. 9 issue North Country This Week: That's a great attitude and I'd like to see more owners allow pets in their rentals. I understand the problems well. In Chicago I lived in one of the apartments where I managed for many years. Cats, birds, and small dogs make the best pets. The pet has to fit in with apartment living though and a period of time should be allocated to make a final decision on whether the pet stays or not. I Just wanted to add my two cents; I know nothing will happen, but due to our association with the local SPCA Shelter, we see a lot of pets turned in because they've had to move from their homes into apartments and the pets couldn't go with them. For a person down on their luck, it's sometimes a really hard pill to swallow.
