I am delighted to donate to the animal shelter, no matter who gets the food in the end. As long as the food goes to help keep an animal fed, I’m happy. It’s not my place to dictate who does or doesn’t need help from my charity. Even if the shelter gives it to people that can’t afford to feed their pets, that’s fine by me. It wouldn’t be very charitable if I was only giving it to people who I thought deserved it. Things happen and people sometimes need help paying for a pet that they used to be able to afford. I’m glad the Potsdam Humane Society provides this service, as I’d much rather an animal with a poor owner be fed instead of being abandoned, re-homed, or forced into a shelter.
