Permission to hunt

In response to “Hunting Dogs Can Legally Roam Properties” which appeared in the Feb. 8-13 issue of North Country This Week: what happened to asking landowners for permission to hunt on their property? A hunting dog is a tool used for hunting just like a gun, bird call, or camouflage. It would seem to me dog owners should take reasonable measures to ensure their dogs don't cross onto private/posted properties. If the dogs do cross into private lands the dog owners should make every effort to get them off these lands as soon as possible. If your dogs are on my property and threatening or menacing my livestock, pets or family, I will shoot them. I will control the coy-dog problems on my own property as I see fit. Stay off my land!
