In response to “Heterosexual Parade,” which ran in the April 22 issue of North Country This Week, really? A straight pride parade? What purpose would this serve? Life is basically a giant straight pride parade already. You can walk around holding someone of the opposite gender's hand and not be criticized. Whereas this group of minorities has to suffer the criticism almost daily. One function of a gay pride parade is to seek acceptance and understanding from society. Another purpose, it seems, is to spend a day with a group of supportive people.
