I’m curious as to how many schools offered students an alternative to taking the Common Core tests? Also, why? Was it because they wanted the money paid by the state for each student that attends school on that day? Or were the schools saying I think it would be good if you did opt out. Were they appeasing the parents who wanted their kids to opt out, but didn’t want to lose time off from work by having to stay home to babysit? Or were they staying on the good side of NYSUT by offering a study room? I feel that the tax dollars I spend for education in this state would have been better spent by saying either come to school and take the tests, regardless of whether they are appropriate or not, or stay home until regular programming resumes.
