An open letter to family and friends. The deer hunting season is over for 2011. Thanks to all of you who made sure my husband got one day in the woods. If my memory was better, I could probably name 100 people that my husband invited to camp—picked up if vehicle wasn’t running, bought ammo for, a gun or two, or provided with venison if they were unable to hunt. What happened? We got old. Camp sold, hunting land around our house sold—no more lunches for parties of eight or 10 here. How many youngsters (now 40, 50 or 60 years old) did he teach hunting safety, tracking, cleaning and cutting up, etc.? Hope that you all had a successful hunt and good time in the woods.
