In response to “Breastfeeding in Church,” which appeared in the Aug. 30 - Sept. 5 issue of North Country This Week: I wanted to sound off against shaming a mothers for breastfeeding in church. Mary nursed Jesus, as they didn't have pumps or formula back then. Breastfeeding is the most natural and God like way to feed your child. I am asking other women not to shame other women for doing the most natural motherly act. Why wouldn't a mother feed their hungry child in the house of God? Do you think God would rather a child scream or a dedicated church goer miss service, because other people are uncomfortable with the way god set our bodies up to provide? I strongly doubt God made the breasts for nursing, but wanted women to hide in bathrooms or let their children go hungry. Also, if your issue that your husband stares, then that is an issue with your husband, not with the mom feeding her kid.
