Not just retail

In response to "Family over Money," which appeared in the Dec. 2-8 issue of North Country This Week, I wrote the previous Sound Off "Working the Holidays." After reading and re-reading what you said in your article, I don't think you really understood what I was trying to say. I would give anything in the world to be with my family every holiday but unfortunately, I cant. I don't need a fancy car, a cell phone or the top of the line clothes to be happy. I need my kids and my husband! I work because that's what pays our bills, puts food on our table and a roof over our heads. I really don't think you understood what I was trying to say in my previous letter. It is upsetting that everyone gets so upset over holidays for retail workers. I understand that it is ridiculous stores are open on holidays and should be closed. Holidays are meant for families to be together. I get that 110%! But when they applied for that job, they knew the possibility that they were working. So when holiday times come, its the same thing over and over. I just want everyone to realize its not just retail workers. Its EMT's, nurses, doctors, PCA's, factory workers, etc.
