In response to "Hate Crime?" which appeared in the Sept. 30-Oct. 6 issue of North Country This Week: Hate crime equals an attack on someone because of hatred of race or sexuality. Hate crime does not equal stupid kids beating up a delivery guy and stealing money and pizzas. If they find that the boys said they wanted to "beat up that cracker" or something like that, it then becomes a hate crime. Intent decides what kind of crime it is.
