In response to “Pit Bull Babble” (Sound Off, Dec. 14-20): There were a few concerns I had with this letter. First unless this pit bull was hurting people or attempting to, I do not think it was an emergency and should have been handled by local police or maybe the Potsdam animal shelter? To me that is just tying up phone lines for people who really need 911. Also did you even try to catch the dog yourself? I know pit bulls have a bad reputation but that does not mean they are all mean. If the dog catcher did not answer or it took a while to get back, he is probably out working because I know a couple dog wardens and the money is not that great. I know this area around here does not have many people who deal with situations like this so there is a chance he could have been busy doing his job.
