In response to “Pensions Root of Crisis,” these people have every right to negotiate for a pension as well as a health and welfare package. Much too often the public is willing to use these workers as a scapegoat. I did not hear any complaints from anyone when the ice storm hit over a decade ago and they worked around the clock to keep roads and streets open so emergency and first responder people could get through. I did not hear any complaints last year after that big storm hit and these workers cleared the streets. Give these workers a break, they are not rich, they work hard and just like you, they have to plan for their future retirement. Or on second thought were you born with a silver spoon in your mouth and still have the first dollar that you ever earned?
