I had been a Northern New York resident on and off for a good many years. My family resides around the Potsdam area. I’ve seen myself fail there, watched the economy go down the tubes, and watched the people become depressed. Just a few months ago I became so depressed I wanted to take my own life. Jobs were scarce, I felt hopeless. Every time I would go to apply for a job there would be someone over qualified taking the position. Not long after that I got an invitation to move to Enosburg Falls, VT. Thank God for that! I got two jobs in a matter of a month. Minimum wage is $8.46 per hour. People here are not nearly as depressed as they were at home. The living expenses are a little higher than home but it’s a small price to pay to be truly happy. The economic depression has caused the residents of Northern NY to be depressed and the majority to be cold hearted. Accept it or not, that’s what has happened. Make a change in your life and be an example in your community.
