In response to the survey on NorthCountryNow.com about free college education for prisoners: My vote is the strongest no. How many decent people struggle with loans for their college education? And the prisoners, having committed serious crimes, should have it free? As a reward for their crimes to society? And the society should pay for it? This is the utmost injustice. Make them work for their upkeep, not pamper them even more than they are pampered now…gyms, tv, free food….all from our taxes. Even when not college education, but BOCES training as someone suggested…who wants a prisoner trampling through their home fixing their leaking faucet or rewiring a circuit?
