In response to “Why no progress on Garrett Phillips?,” there is really no way for the public to know the answer to that. Sure, it could be because the police and the prosecutor don’t care. I doubt it. If there is no evidence, or not enough evidence to convict, there is nothing they can do. Do you want them to try someone with no evidence, get him acquitted, and have double jeopardy prevent him from ever being tried again? If there is no evidence, there’s no evidence, and that’s no one’s fault. Unfortunately some crimes are never solved, Garrett’s case isn’t exactly the only one. I realize this is a painful topic, but it’s unfair to assume that because no charges have been filed that no one cares.
