Our local representatives have fought long and hard to form the North Country Power Authority and we now have the opportunity to own our electrical distribution system and to generate our power locally too. There is much support at both the State and Federal levels for building Anaerobic Digesters that turn organic materials such as food wastes, manures and even yard clippings into useable fuel for electricity generation. Organizations such as NYSERDA, the USDA and the EPA provide funding and support for such projects. We have the resources to generate electricity locally and this is just one way that would also help to reduce a considerable amount of waste going into our landfills. It is time we moved forward to benefit local residents and businesses just as Massena Electric did for their customers.
