I think it is appalling that the St. Lawrence County Fair collected $10 each from the 1,000 or so spectators and more in entry fees for the demolition derby and only paid out $1,000 in prize money. The derby heat winners only received a tiny trophy. The fair only paid out $700 for first in the feature and $300 for second. t takes a great deal of time and hard work getting these cars ready, not to mention the risk of actually driving them. The St. Lawrence County Fair officials should be ashamed of themselves for taking advantage of participants. In my opinion, the drivers should have refused to run until they increased the prizes. I hope this changes in future years or they may just lose, what is probably, their most lucrative grandstand attraction! -Angry Derby Spectator
