The BOCES superintendent recently provided a 40 plus minute dialogue on long term solutions for local school districts in which he verbalizes on topics of “ fiscal reform,” “affordability,” “complex funding formulas,” real estate tax burdens, decrease in student enrollment, and a 10 year increase in pension costs (10 year 2 percent to 16 percent). I may have missed some other salient points; however, I wonder if he considered the cost to the taxpayers of the purchase of the United Helpers “White Elephant” (The old Moongate Nursing Home in Canton). Perhaps he could manage a shorter version of the fiscal appropriateness of this issue for the concerned taxpayers.
