Many organizations offer the opportunity to be active in the spring through walk/runs and other events to raise money for various charities and causes. I see big-name fundraisers advertised and can’t help to wonder where this money goes. Does it benefit local people and their struggles with these illnesses? Or is it sent to national organizations never to been seen or used to help our local people? With the economy the way it is and with so many in our area battling different types of illnesses, we simply can’t afford to have the money shipped out. I would certainly never discourage anyone from taking up a cause and supporting it, but I would encourage you to ask organizers how the money is used and how exactly it will help the North Country.
