Minimum wage

I was reading through the survey comments this week, and I saw several people suggesting a minimum wage of $15 per hour. I support a minimum wage increase, but $15? My husband I both make less than $15 per hour, and we’re living quite comfortably. We have a very nice apartment (we’re saving for a house), two new cars, life insurance, and other “perks.” We could get by on less, but fortunately after years of hard work are able to support a slightly nicer lifestyle. If you really think $15 per hour is a necessary wage to get by, your perspective is a bit skewed. The key word is necessary. Further, I have a graduate degree and my husband is a manager and has been with his company for years, and we make less than $15 per hour. If you want to pay $15 per hour for the most entry level of jobs, what do you propose to pay people like us? It’s good to help people, but let’s keep some perspective.
