Twenty-five people...just twenty-five people were at the meeting April 23 to discuss the merger possibility for Canton and Potsdam schools. This is the most ridiculous idea I have ever heard! We all need to speak up! Those in charge are using bully tactics to get them to merge. I would like to know, how are the schools saving any money by having the middle school in Canton and the high school in Potsdam? It’s still the same amount of kids! Can you imagine a student living in Stockholm and riding the bus to Canton? Or a kid living in Rensselaer Falls riding the bus to Potsdam? More gas and more time for the bus drivers. Explain how this saves money. Oh and the best part, there is money, apparently, because if they merge, the school will receive 35 million dollars over 14 years. So, what happens after 14 years? Why not give each school 17.5 million and stay the way they are right now? I fail to see the logic in this situation.
