In response to the Letter to the Editor “Lent A Good Time To Cut Out Meat,” since when did Lent become meat free? Granted, I haven’t been a part of organized religion for many years but I was not aware that Christians observed Lent by giving up meat entirely. Back in the day when I did participate in Christian practices, Lent meant meat free days of the week and that did not mean we ate no animal products on those days, just not meat. Someone out there who is still practicing Lent and it’s dietary rules, please educate me and the person who thinks Lent is meat free.
