Makes me think

Posted

I love the Sound Off section of North Country This Week, it gives me a good laugh sometimes and other times it ticks me off, but most of the time it makes me think. And I’m thinking the person who is calling foul because of taxes and the county taking properties is one of those people who hasn’t paid taxes for a couple years and is facing having their home taken. It’s no secret when you buy a home that this can happen. Do you think the county wants to own properties and sell them for much less than what they are worth? People go to these auctions to get a deal, not to pay market value. If you were worried about the equity you built into your home and you weren’t paying taxes, then you knew that the county would eventually take your property. Instead of crying about it you should have taken responsibility and either paid your taxes when they were due, or sold your property to recoup your equity. The taxes that you cry about pay for our roads to get repaired. It pays for that snowplow and driver to let you onto a clean road to go to work or school, and much more. Because you haven’t paid your taxes, maybe mine will get raised. Is that fair? I think not! Pay up, or shut up. To the person who wrote about the tattered flags, thanks for the reminder. Ours was getting ratty last year so this past weekend we purchased a new one.
