Sales tax was a good revenue earner for St. Lawrence County until we raised it. By raising it, you drove away people who thought they were getting a good deal. We should lower it to less than other counties so we can attract people here to spend. If we lowered it and used some of the so-called business development money to provide free bridge tokens to Canadians, maybe we could bring more people into the county to spend... which would increase the overall amount of tax revenue collected.
