In response to articles in the Dec. 10-16 issue of North County This Week, page one has an article that talks about the budget. Page three announces a 3.8% tax hike. Page five lists all the job vacancies the County will fill. I was in agreement with the 1% sales tax so everyone--not just property owners--would pay their share. Does anyone besides me question these articles? If I don't have money for something I do without. Legislators are placing us in the same category that Jonathan Guber has in the stupid taxpayer department. How does a $1,700,000 math error qualify as a mishap? I am a retired (out of state) state employee. I've been aware of how some accounting principles work in government. How can you fill positions you were able to do without and tell we the property owners we're going to have our taxes raised--again because Ms. Hilaire isn't doing her job and the legislators have allowed her to describe her incompetence as mishaps. Yes, Jonathan we are stupid to think that our legislature is looking out for us.
