I called home on a recent evening to speak with my mother…as I do every chance I get, as my father recently passed away. I was informed that she and my Aunt were on the way to Ogdensburg to finish up some unfinished business regarding my father’s affairs. These two elderly ladies got a flat tire on the way. As they were sitting on the side of the road for nearly two hours unsure of what to do, they witnessed two state troopers and two sherrif cars drive by. None of them stopped! My question is, why didn’t one of these law enforcement cars stop to see if there was something the officers could do to assist? Everyone has a lot on their plate...but c’mon. These two ladies are in in excellent health, yet as ladies in their aging years, cannot change a tire on a mini van. Luckily, my mother figured out how to get in touch with Mort Backus and they came, took care of the situation! My hats off to Mort Backus.
