In response to “School Consolidation” which appeared in the Sept. 8-14 issue of North Country This Week: I agree. We need to look at consolidation in both our schools and municipalities. I think its the only way to slow down the tax burden. Consolidations of school has been a natural process since the one-room school house. The same consolidation needs to happen with our village, town and county highway departments. In Canton for example, they use three different highway garages within the village limits. Why not put all three in one location? All fuel, sand, salt and equipment run out of one spot would save money in many ways like manpower, purchasing power, and ability to share equipment. Your thoughts?
