Wild June berries are quite a treat if you can find them before the birds do. One way to find them is to look for the bright white mass of blossoms that emerge very early along roadsides and along the edges of fields or tree lines (these are locations where they grow low enough to reach.) They blossom early and therefore stand out against the darker background of other trees and vegetation. You will often find them "reaching out" from under the higher branches of other trees. They do grow larger and taller among other trees but then they are often too high to reach. The berries themselves are similar in size and shape to wild blue berries but not as dark in color. And they have a distinctive flavor. The next week or two will be the time to find them blossoming. So look around and be careful regarding the ticks.
