Finally, the Potsdam Village Police Department announced that they are turning the murder investigation of a Potsdam boy over to the NY State Police. It only took them four months to figure out that turning the case over to the NY State Police was probably a good idea. Also while in the middle of their investigation the Chief of Police decides to retire before putting closure on the largest case that the village police department has been involved in, in years. I am not sure if accolades should be given to the Potsdam Police Department or maybe a pat on the back for their effort. Or, maybe its time to re-examine the fact that the police force counts for 45% of the annual budget and they may only be capable of issuing parking violations and breaking up frat parties.
