In response to the Aug. 17-23 Sound Off “Unhappy with Potsdam Police Service” I was shocked, amazed and disgusted that the writer condemned and denigrated the Potsdam Police Department. I have always found the Potsdam police to be polite, professional, courteous and efficient. It is my understanding that the police department charges fees for its services when those services are delivered to people who are not residents of the village of Potsdam. No fees are charged to village residents or if the ticket was issued by Potsdam police officers. The taxes of village residents support the police department. As a village resident, I am tired of people who live outside the village trying to reap benefits paid for by village residents.
