So, my child attends a local unnamed school here in St. Lawrence County. I must ask, in the hopes that it stimulates not only societal and personal questions about who we have become as a culture, but also how many more personal responsibilities we will abdicate to our “benevolent guardian” (the Government) in trade for the various entitlement programs. As we all know schools offer breakfast for students who do not get the chance to eat at home for various reasons. Regardless of what the home situation is, I am offended that a teacher actually asked me if I could feed my child before they arrived to school (as they are getting to their class late), just as long as it wasn’t an imposition. So, when did feeding your own child become an imposition and why would the school not want to “impose”? I mean, who are the parents, our “guardian,” or my spouse and I? Is it really so common for such basic responsibilities to be abdicated to the Government? And, if so, where are we headed?
