The Rooftop Highway does not make sense (North Country This Week Survey Question, Dec. 15-21). What good will the Rooftop Highway (also known as Interstate 98) be if all the surrounding infrastructure, hundreds of bridges and the roads that lead to them, are all crumbling and closed to traffic due to lack of preventive maintenance and need more costly replacement? These issues are not addressed by our dear leaders for fear of not drinking the pro-growth koolaid. Our leaders lack the backbone to address the infrastructure that already exists and needs critical attention now. Can our county replace the bridges on county roads that need replacing over the next ten years?
