This is my second year at SUNY Canton, and I too agree that the parking on campus is ridiculous (“Bad SUNY Canton Parking,” Sept. 15-21). The first day of classes I drove around for 20 minutes trying to find a spot then ended up having to park by the old gym. Last week the same thing happened to me except this time I parked in visitor parking and was given a ticket. I went to the university police to explain to them how there was nowhere for me to park. Two of the police have personally told me they know there is not enough parking for all of the students, so where exactly do they expect us to park? How can they write us tickets? Maybe instead of building a new athletic center they should make a few more parking lots? I pay $95 per semester for parking, yet there is no where for me to park. You’d think with all of the insane parking fees and tickets they could have enough money for a new parking lot by now.
