I was shocked to see North Country Congresswoman Elise Stefanik go from ignoring the many people asking her to hold a town hall meeting, to saying those people are largely from outside the district and are harassing her staff. She says she will call U.S. Capitol Police on them. Everyone I know who calls always tries to be polite and everyone I know who calls lives in the 21st District, even if their phone number might have an area code outside the district. If there are bad apples that make harassing phone calls, she should know that they are few and far between. And now her spokesperson has told the Post-Star that she will only meet with community groups, business people, and farmers. This is not the transparency and accountability she touts. It is just flat out hiding from the voters of the 21st District.
